We are seeking a driven, self-reliant, adventurous licensed veterinarian who is willing to travel outside the US to manage a clinic for Explosive Device Canines (EDCs) in overseas locations with 24/7 emergency availability as the sole provider for these EDCs.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Determines nature of disease or injury by examining canines specifically.
Restores health by treating animals surgically or medically.
Maintaining a valid veterinary license in at least one US state and a valid DEA practitioner license, including meeting any continuing education requirements.
Providing all routine and emergency care for EDCs
Ensuring adequate stock of supplies for both routine operations and emergency contingencies.
Scheduling site visits in order to meet operational requirements.
Ensure that all outbound EDCs have the required vaccinations and documentation for international travel.
Examine animals to detect nature of diseases or injuries
Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medications, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgery
Inoculate animals against various diseases such a rabies and distemper
Collect body tissues, feces, blood, urine, or other bodily fluids for examination and analysis
Operate diagnostic equipment such as radiographic and ultrasound equipment, and interpret the resulting images
Advise handlers regarding sanitary, feeding, and general care necessary to promote health of animals
Educate handlers/trainers about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans
Train and supervise workers who handle and care for animals
Euthanize animals at the direction of the Government
Establish and conduct quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans
Conduct postmortem studies and analyses to determine the cause of animal’s deaths
Inspect and test animals to detect the presence of communicable diseases
Research diseases to which animals could be susceptible
Inspect animal housing to determine cleanliness and adequacy
Capable of giving medical advice telephonically to a staff or Vet Tech at remote locations
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of or prior experience with Working Dogs
Proper documentation and reporting skills
Strong customer service
Knowledge of current medical technologies and performing diagnostic procedures
Sound Judgment
Professional Integrity
Desired Qualifications:
Arabic or French language speaking skills (not required)
Previous military experience (not required)
